Control & Safety

For the last couple of months Control & Safety was busy working on Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) and specifically the PCB layout of the Brake System Plausibility Device (BSPD), Pre-Charge Circuit (PCC) & Discharge Circuit (DCC).The BSPD prevents the driver from braking and accelerating at the same time. While the PreCharge and DisCharge PCBs are needed for the High Voltage system. It is going well, since we’ve got the BPSD, PCC & DCC in! We already tested the PCBS and fortunately they work great! Furthermore, the Tractive System Active Light (TSAL) is finished. The TSAL indicates if the High Voltage system is on or off. We are expecting it to be produced within a couple weeks.

They have also been working on setting up software in Visual Studio Code. This only requires you to adjust a few settings and makes it more convenient to program in SMT32. The software they have set up is making it easier to program the brake light and all the other SMT32 microcontrollers. For example: the Fuel Cell Control Unit (FCCU) and Electronic Control Unit (ECU).

In the coming weeks Control and Safety will work on the design of the remaining PCB’s. Mainly, the TSAC Indicator and TSAC Safety Circuit. These PCB’s implement some features that are required by the rules of Formula Student.
