Green Team Twente is pioneering sustainable mobility as we design, build and race one of the world’s most fuel-efficient hydrogen cars. We are a multidisciplinary team at the University of Twente consisting of 19 dedicated students, which believes in hydrogen as the perfect alternative for fossil fuels. But what is more important, is that our self-designed hydrogen-powered cars can drive really far using only very little energy (>900 km/L). That is because we believe that future mobility needs more than only a bold quest for alternative energy sources. We believe that it is equally important to use any fuel or energy as economical as possible. This unique combination is what Green Team Twente stands for and wants to show to the world by building extraordinary cars, but also by e.g. educating the youth about sustainability.
Green Team Twente participated in the SEM2016 with the H2.Zero. This car has put down an amazing result of 268.1 km/m3, which is about 900 km/L, resulting in the third place! This is achieved with the unique components of the car. The gearbox, engine controllers and fuel cell are designed specifically for this performance. Each component has been optimized and these are the best things you can get. The focus is on the performance, but certainly on the weight as well. The car weighs only 110 kg in total and races in the top of Europe.
The Shell Eco-marathon will take place on May 25 this year. It will be the best race Green Team Twente has ever be done. During several attempts over three days, the car will race an incredible performance. It will compete with the 200 best student teams of Europe using as less fuel as possible. Each car drives a track with the amount of fuel measured. Every year, Green Team Twente compete in the top of the Urban-Concept hydrogen class, and will try to peer with the result of 2012 and make hydrogen the fuel of the future.
